Variable Speed Furnace

With the extreme weather conditions prevalent in Austell, GA it’s important to be comfortable in your own home. The comfort factor in your home is largely based on the type of furnace you have. Most homeowners are familiar with the traditional single stage furnace that only has an “on” or “off” mode and works at maximum capacity at all times. Hence, your electricity bill shoots through the roof.

Homeowners should be aware that they have more options in the type of furnace they choose to heat their home that will reduce electricity bills and even clean up the air in your home. One type is called the multi-speed furnace that as opposed to the traditional version has 2 different settings. Typically it operates on a low setting 80% of the time. However, if there is a severe change in temperature, this type of furnace will switch to a higher setting.

Then there’s a third type of furnace that could be called a technological revolution in heating homes. A variable speed furnace has variable speed technology. This allows the blower to adjust its output speed in increments based on heating demands of your home.

The major benefits of a variable speed furnace include:

● By precisely controlling airflow, this type of furnace provides better temperature control, humidity control, and air distribution.

● By using two-thirds less electricity, a variable speed furnace is more efficient than any other.

● You’ll be able to hear a pin drop with the quiet feature of this type of furnace that doesn’t “kick” or “blast” at startup.

Prior to choosing a new furnace for your home, it is recommended to have an energy audit.

Furnace manufacturers typically offer an 80% efficient gas furnace and a high efficient. By trading up to the more efficient furnace will increase the life of your furnace by 10 years. Its expected that the U.S. Department of Energy will one day require that homeowners in the northern states install these high efficiency furnaces.
